BLM EXECUTIVE MAYOR CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
As Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, we have had challenges but I am proud to inform you that despite those challenges, we have made inroads in terms of water provision. 26 villages have been connected to the Inyaka bulk water supply with yard connections. We know our challenges in relation to service delivery and we are going to work tirelessly to address them in 2016.
That time of the year has arrived where families come together to celebrate the festive season. It is a season to show love, give to the needy, show compassion and most of all to forgive. I am appealing to community members to think about the needs of child headed families, the lonely and the neglected elderly who at times feel deserted and very alone, especially those with no family ties at all. Let us open our doors and gates to them and celebrate with them the festive season.
I am pleading with motorists and pedestrians to take extra care on the roads; those motorists who will violate the National Road Traffic Act will be dealt with harshly and zero tolerance approach will be used. Municipal Traffic officers in collaboration with Provincial Traffic Officers will be visible throughout the festive season. Let us all obey traffic rules to ensure that we arrive alive.
Let us have our cars checked before embarking on long trips, let us have enough rest on the road and most importantly don’t drink and drive.
To those who are travelling away to visit family and friends, may you have a safe and enjoyable journey, and to those who will be visiting our area to spend quality time with family and friends. I sincerely welcome you to Bushbuckridge and hope you will have an enjoyable festive season. Those who will be going on vacations, please make arrangements with your family and friends to look after your properties while you are away.
In January 2016, I will be visiting destitute Primary and High schools to motivate learners and educators to strive for better results as well as giving away school uniforms to destitute school pupils. Those who are in grade 12, please take advantage of Bushbuckridge Local Municipality Bursary opportunities by applying for bursary to further their studies in institutions of higher learning in 2016 and beyond. Please note the municipality business operating hours will be affected this festive season. The following hours will be operational:
15 December 2015 , closing at 12H00
16 December 2015 , municipal offices will shut down
24 December 2015 , closing at 12H00
25 December 2015 , municipal offices will shut down
31 December 2015 , closing at 12H00
01 January 2015 , , municipal offices will be closed
On behalf of Council, I wish you a merry Christmas that gives contentment and love, and a happy prosperous New Year! Those
Cllr Renias Khumalo
