BLM AND BLTO HELD A SUCCESSFUL FIRST EVER BUSINESS BREAKFAST SESSION

 Bushbuckridge Local municipality (BLM) Executive Mayor Hon. Cllr Renias Khumalo in partnership with the Bushbuckridge Local Tourism Organization (BLTO), led by the Chairperson: Mr Sizile Ndlovu held the first ever successful Business Breakfast Session with Dr. Reuel Khoza, the main objectives were to explore and unlock potential business opportunities for the Bushbuckridge community. The glittering event was held at the Matinteng Guest House on Monday, 25thJanuary 2016.

The conference room was packed to capacity with an ordinary table at R100. 00 and a table with the Executive Mayor, MMC Cllr Leonard Malumane,  Dr. Reuel Khoza, Mr. Dave Varty and Mr. Thulani Nzima at R500.00 per person. The more than filled to capacity conference room exceeding the 150 targeted number left the municipality and the BLTO with no option but to organize more gatherings of this nature on different subject matters in the near future.

Dr. Khoza, who was the main guest speaker alongside with Mr. Varty and Mr. Nzima whom have beenin the tourism business all gave business lectures on “How to start a successful business and how to maintain a successful one andthe new mining factory called Tourism. Mr. Varty is the owner of many of prestigious tourism destinations with the renowned one been the Londolozi Game Lodge and Mr. Nzima who is the former CEO of Tourism S.A.

Dr. Khoza was born and bred at Hebron, Ga-Josefa in Bushbuckridge and is currently the Chairman of AKA Capital and has also served as the Non-Executive Chairman of Nedbank, Chairman of NEPAD Business Foundation, Founding Director of the Black Management Forum and he is also the Chancellor of the University of Limpopo, succeeding former President Dr. Nelson Mandela.

Bushbuckridge was declared a nodal point by the then President Mr. Thabo Mbeki due to its lack of Industrialized conditions and infrastructure development, research has proven that around 52% of people in Bushbuckridge citizens are unemployed with the majority been the youth. Delivering his business lecture Dr. Khoza and company reckoned that the high unemployment rate can be reversed citing that Bushbuckridge is on top of a mine called Tourism.

 

They believe that the only thing hampering development and investment in Bushbuckridge was the unavailability of land due to red tapes in the application processes. Bushbuckridge’s local economy has the potential to boom thus addressing the high unemployment rate and eradicating poverty. Citing an example, Dr. Khoza alluded that a whooping R1.5 billion has been raised for the development of a commercial centre at the Matsikitsane area thatwill include a shopping centre, private hospital and a sports complex but the red tapes in accessing land is hampering progress.

The Bushbuckridge Stainless Steel manufacturing factory is on the pipeline with the conceptual feasibility completed, the feasibility studies to be completed in February 2016 and the bankable feasibility studies will be completed in 2017and  the project willhit the ground running. The steel factory is expected to create at least 10 000 permanent jobs with a further 30 000 artisanal jobs during the construction stageand the commercial centre in Matsikitsane is expected to create more than 1 500 jobs.

Bracing the event was the MP Mr. Mashile Lemias, MPL Ms. Patricia Ngobeni, Bushbuckridge Local Municipality Executive Mayor flanked by his Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMC’s), and Dr. Reuel Khoza, Mr. Dave Varty, Mr. Thulani Nzima, ANC Veteran and world renowned photographer Mr. Sam Nzima, ANC Mpumalanga Youth League Provincial Secretary Ms. Sasekani Manzini, ANC Mpumalanga Women’s League Secretary Lydia Moroane, Councilors, National and provincial department of Tourism, Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA), Bushbuckridge Chamber of Business, Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business,  Inkomati Usuthu Catchment Agency and the Business Fraternity at large.
