Bushbuckridge Local Municipality (BLM), in partnership with the South African Women in Construction (SAWIC) and Pristine Ladies Golf Club, hosted the Executive Mayor’s Charity Golf Day on 22 August 2025 at The Kruger Park Lodge, bringing together leadership, business, and community partners for a shared purpose. 

The event raised funds for a local non-profit Drop-in Centre that provides daily meals to at least 165 vulnerable children and learners from Orinoco C and surrounding areas. Operating from a single-room structure with no proper shelter or ablution facilities, the centre also served as an aftercare space where learners received support with their schoolwork. 

The day enjoyed strong leadership support, with the presence of Executive Mayor Cllr Lydia Moroane, Mpumalanga MEC for Health Ms Manzini, and MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture Ms Mabuza. They were joined by sponsors, organisers, members of the South African Women in Construction executive committee, the Director of Emalangeni Technologies, and golfers from across Mpumalanga. 

Local businesses added vibrancy to the event through exhibitions, including Red-Carpet Marketing, Rifumo Boutique Spa, and Ngobe Media Inner Circle MiTV Network, highlighting the important role of entrepreneurship in community development. 

Executive Mayor Cllr Lydia Moroane thanked the organisers, with special recognition to Ms Mahlatsi Malibe of Pristine Ladies Golf Club, and commended local businesspeople for supporting initiatives that uplift vulnerable communities. 

“This initiative showed what we can achieve when we work together to support those who need it most,” said the Mayor. “May this partnership continue to grow and help build a better life for all.”
